Today we took the A2 coast road from Ballygally to Bushmills, with a few detours on even more coastal routes. Our primary destination was Giant’s Causeway, which remains one of my favorite places in the world. We spent most of two hours exploring the Causeway and walking out on the stones.
For lunch, we stopped at the Bushmills Inn, where we had a fabulous meal. I enjoyed fresh salmon served on chowder, while my dad opted for haddock and my mom picked a duo of crepes filled with seasonal vegetables. It will be hard to top the delicious dishes the rest of our trip, but I think we’re willing to keep searching. 😉
After lunch, we stopped at the Bushmills Distillery for a tour. Bushmills has dropped the multi-whiskey sampling for lucky volunteers, but we enjoyed learning about the distillery process and sampling one whiskey each.
We took an inland route back to Larne for groceries and then on to the hotel in Ballygally. I did my best to find us “detours” off the beaten track – even trying out some roads that weren’t on our map!
