I am the Director of the Center for Engaged Learning and a Professor of Professional Writing & Rhetoric at Elon University, and I enjoy gardening and cooking as a counter-point to my work. I travel frequently to share my research on engaged learning, and I do my best to make time for non-work travel adventures, too.
Regardless of whether I’m traveling for work or play, I pack comfortable shoes to explore the area. Bonus: (Self-) Guided walking tours are great stealth exercise.
I also love to try new restaurants when I travel, and those meals often inspire creativity in my own kitchen. I do not have any formal culinary training, but I love to cook. It’s how I unwind at the end of the day. While recipes sometimes serve as starting points, I like to experiment and often adapt recipes depending on what’s in season or in my kitchen.
This site is my attempt to keep track of – and share – my adventures. I also maintain a website for my professional work.
